Kids Don't Float

Free loaner life jackets at Lake Jacksonville's Concession Park swim area.

Support the Program

Life jackets for a safer day at the lake

Kids Don't Float (KDF) provides life jackets to borrow free of charge at the Concession Park swim area on Lake Jacksonville. After a child drowned at the lake in 2010, the program was created to make life jackets available to families enjoying the water.

Volunteers with the Lake Jacksonville Association keep the station stocked. Community donations help replace old or lost life jackets and support the maintenance and operation of this lifesaving effort.

Borrow • Wear • Return

Borrow a life jacket at no charge, wear it while enjoying the water, and return it to the station the same day in good condition. Read the posted loaner rules and check the jacket's fit and condition before use.

A new station for 2026

A new life jacket station was built in 2026 after the old concession stand was torn down. Dedicated in memory of those lost to drowning, the station is a reminder that wearing a life jacket saves lives.
